Understanding

Tina Huett   -

Jesus’ disciples asked Him about parables, probably thinking, “we have no idea where this is going.” He explained that the secret of the kingdom of heaven had been given to them (as believers) but unbelievers don’t understand. In Mark 4:12 He says “they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding.” The ways of the kingdom are to trust God in all things. Jesus was constantly telling us and showing us what the Father is like.

Some may have said this line in their hurt and frustration…..”I just don’t understand” or “I just don’t get it” or maybe just “WHY???”.  I recall a scripture that sort of calls out to me when I hear these expressions and it is Proverbs 3:5  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. The Bible is being serious. Your heart is deceitful, your emotions fluctuate and your own understanding does not see the overall, big picture.Your own understanding is so limited and quite one-sided. The Lord knows all the details, He knows the hearts of people and what their true intentions were, He knows the future ramifications of each and every decision and he knows the choices we will make before we even make them. Can you just trust Him? Can you lay aside your “not understanding” and give in to HIS WILL, leave the driving to HIM. He is good and He CAN be trusted.
