A number of years ago Lauren and Tim moved to Southern California to help with a church plant in Aliso Viejo. Tim had started a new job there so Lauren flew back to Dallas to finish up a few details and drive their Prius back there in order to get both cars in California. I drove with her and we were enjoying a pleasant trip until we encountered a sandstorm in the desert. We were being thoroughly blasted by sand and could barely see to drive. We took the first possible exit and inquired at a place of business as to what we should do. A man who was familiar to the occasional sand storms told us to keep moving at a slow pace with our headlights on bright and to never stop because if we did we would be rear ended.
Life can throw a sand storm at us. Things can get dark and it can become difficult to see or to know what to do. When we are being pounded by circumstances and what we see looks scary, we can take that same advice: keep moving forward, use the light we’ve been given and don’t stop. In your particular circumstance, please don’t give up! Here’s what Paul told the Galatians to do in Galatians 6:9 “Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. Keep moving, you will get where you need to be if you don’t give up.
