Be Refreshed in Him
Acts 3:19 (NASB95) “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;
I love a dip in a pool on a hot summer day. I like a nice cold glass of iced tea on a hot summer day. They are both refreshing, but they don’t last. Just as summer in Texas is oppressively hot, so can life be oppressive, weighing us down. So we need the refreshing that comes from the presence of the Lord. Peter in his second sermon after the day of Pentecost says it starts with repentance. The purpose of repentance is to let the Holy Spirit remove any barriers that keeps us from experiencing God’s refreshing.
God refreshes us through His presence.
His presence comes from:
-Reading and seeing Jesus in the scriptures.
-Praying and engaging with God’s will and purpose.
-Community with the people of God building one another up.
-Worship and praise, connecting with what is happening in heaven, joining with the song they are already singing.
Be refreshed in Him.
