Beginning to sink
When Peter got out of the boat to walk on the water with Jesus, he got distracted by the waves and began to sink. What? That is not how sinking works. You don’t begin to sink, you just sink, immediately and completely. But Peter had time to cry out to Jesus, “Lord help me”. Just as walking on the water defied the laws of gravity, so did the slow sinking. It is though the Lord is giving Him time to cry out and get help. When He cried out, Jesus reached out His hand and helped him into the boat. Then he said to him, “Oh you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Which is to say, “I had you all along.” It is easy to get distracted by the wind and waves and the bills and the life stuff and feel like we are sinking in it all. But Jesus in His mercy is going to slow the sinking so that you have time to cry out, “Lord, help me.” And He will.
I love you, Pastor Randy
