DAY 10.
PRAY HIS AGENDA FIRST
“…YOUR KINGDOM COME. YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN…”
Last week, we prayed this phrase over ourselves: “God may your kingdom come and your will be done in my life.” This week I want us to pray it over our families. While we are praying for our family members to surrender to God’s reign and rule in their lives, this sometimes includes surrendering some of our expectations of what that might look like as well. This part can be hard, especially for us parents. It can also be hard if you are praying over a relationship that has involved a lot of hurt.
In addition to praying for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done for the people in your family, ask for God’s help interacting with your family according to His will. Pray that your interactions and expectations reflect and show what Jesus’ kingdom is all about.
‘For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. ‘
Colossians 1:13-14 NLT
God’s kingdom work is to rescue people from darkness and bring them into relationship with Him. That’s what Jesus did for us, by loving us and giving Himself up for us.
Spend time focusing on what God is focused on in your family. His priorities include:
• To reign fully in their hearts.
• For them to fully know Jesus.
• Blessing for their circle of influence as they walk with Jesus.
• For them to discover their calling in Jesus.
• Freedom from bondage in their lives.
• Living out all that He made them for.
PRAY THIS:
Jesus, I thank you that you are the reason I am in your kingdom. You found me. You rescued me. As you transform me and I put you on the throne of my life, I ask that you would bring your kingdom priorities into all of my interactions with my family. I surrender any expectation I have for them, and ask that you want to do in their lives. Give them everything you have given me and more in Jesus name, Amen.
