Here is a prophecy concerning Jesus from the first book of the Bible.
Genesis 49: 9–11 (NASB95) “Judah is a lion’s whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He couches, he lies down as a lion, And as a lion, who dares rouse him up? 10 “The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples. 11 “He ties his foal to the vine, And his donkey’s colt to the choice vine; He washes his garments in wine, And his robes in the blood of grapes.
This was written several thousand years before Jesus was born.
Here it is repeated by the prophet Zechariah about 500 years before Jesus is born.
Zechariah 9:9 (NASB95) Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Then Jesus fulfills the prophecy as He enters Jerusalem.
Matthew 21:6–9 (NASB95) The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them, 7 and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their coats on them; and He sat on the coats. 8 Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road. 9 The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!”
I love to see the story of Jesus be unveiled in the pages of scripture. Like the Bible project say, “Our mission is to help people experience the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus.”
I hope in this passion week you are overwhelmed by God’s love for you, that led to God’s plan for you and brought Jesus in full obedience to the Father to die for our sin and salvation.
Sunday is coming!
I love you, Randy
