Matthew 16:21 (NASB95) From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.
Jesus said this very plainly to his disciples. He must go to Jerusalem, He must suffer many things, He must be killed and He must be raised on the third day.
Matthew 16:22–23 (NASB95) Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You.” But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
Even when Jesus went to cross, they didn’t understand what was happening.
Sometimes it’s hard to see what God is doing until it’s done. We like the disciples think we know what should happen, but it doesn’t always line up with what does happen.
God is at work even when bad things are happening that we don’t like.
Acts 4:27–28 (NASB95) “For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, 28 to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur.
God is at work, even when bad people are doing bad things. He is sovereign and His will will be done. There was a cross, but there was also a resurrection that nobody saw coming. Except God. Hang on and trust God, it may be Friday, but Sunday is coming!
Love you,
