Unity in Christ

Randy Huett   -

Philippians 2:3–4 (AMP) Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves]. 4 Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others.

We like factions. We like us and them. The “in” crowd and the “out” crowd. North and South, East and West. Black and white. Republican and  Democrats, Texas and A&M, Cowboys and Steelers, Rangers and Astros, Chevy and Ford. The list of possible factions goes on and on. Where does it stop? For the world it never does, but for you and I, it stops at the cross and in Christ.

Jesus prayed for us to have a unique unity.

John 17:20–21 (NASB95)  “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

Selfishness and arrogance is what causes divisions but servanthood and humility can defeat it.

I love you, Pastor Randy
