Christian Humility Month

Randy Huett   -

Maybe we need a Christian Humility Month!

From The Confessions, Augustine states, “Our hearts are restless until they find their rest in thee.” Knowing God quenches our deepest desires to know the glorious and be known by the glorious.”

Psalm 36:9 (AMP) For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light.

You may say,” I gave my life to Jesus and I am still feel empty inside, it didn’t work”.  I understand that, I don’t always “feel” it either, but it won’t just happen, it takes a fight, a fight of faith.

1 Timothy 6:12 (AMP) Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold of the eternal life to which you were summoned and [for which] you confessed the good confession [of faith] before many witnesses.

It is the fight to believe the right things about God; His character and attributes, His love and grace and justice, what Jesus did for you by emptying Himself and putting on flesh, His perfect sinless life, Him dying our death and taking our eternal punishment on Himself.  Meditating on that, renews your mind.

It’s a fight to believe what God says about you is true. You are chosen, called, loved and a beloved son or daughter of God. You’ve been invited into the eternal dance of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. My treasure is God, my inheritance is God and my future is God. That also renews your mind.

It is a fight to exalt God in our lives and humble ourselves before Him. Maybe you need to pray a prayer like this. “God I agree that you deserve first place in my life and I rededicate myself to pursuing you in your Word and in prayer.” We never do what we do to try to earn God’s love. We do what we do because we are confident that we have God’s love.

You are loved by Him and I love you too.
