The Battle is The Lords
The battle is the Lord’s
2 Chronicles 20:15 (NASB95) and he said, “Listen, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s.
Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah were staring down the barrel of a loaded gun and they didn’t know what to do. The armies of their long lost cousins, the descendants of Esau, the Edomites and the Ammonites, have gathered for war. A great multitude the Bible calls them. To Jehoshaphat and everyone he loves, it looks like certain defeat and death. One option was to pay off some other country to come to their aid, the other was to trust God.
Jehoshaphat called the nation to prayer and fasting. I love this powerful, yet fully dependent prayer.
2 Chronicles 20:12–13 (NASB95) “O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” 13 All Judah was standing before the Lord, with their infants, their wives and their children.
“We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you!”
And God answered, “Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
So they fought this battle, according to God’s instructions by putting the choir and the worship leaders up front.
2 Chronicles 20:21–22 (NASB95) When he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the Lord and those who praised Him in holy attire, as they went out before the army and said, “Give thanks to the Lord, for His lovingkindness is everlasting.” 22 When they began singing and praising, the Lord set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed.
Your battle is the Lord’s and He fights for you! Because He loves you, treasures you and delights in you.
I love you too! Pastor Randy
